The meeting of style, functionality, everyday wear, and outdoor fashion forms a significant axis within the FW23 youth scene. Searches for the so-called "Gorpcore" have been on the rise, especially on youth-centered platforms like Depop. Functional items from brands like Arc'teryx, Salomon, and others inspired by the Y2K era are being freely mixed with everyday looks. Collaborations between fashion brands and performance wear, such as The North Face with Gucci, Eddie Bauer with The Great, and Canada Goose with Reformation, continue to be prevalent. Rather than vibrant colors, the focus shifts towards more everyday neutrals like khaki and brown.

One of the representative items is cargo pants, which are especially essential for comfortably styling everyday looks with a cool, wide-fit vibe. They are expected to become even more commonplace as they are coordinated with Y2K favorites like denim-on-denim and crop tops. Instead of backpacks, more casually stylish options like crossbody bags and sling bags are preferred for pairing with these outfits.

Lightweight and portable windbreakers are recommended alongside various pullovers and anoraks as transitional or inner layer items. The use of more performance-oriented pieces like utility padded jackets or hiking sneakers is a distinctive feature of this style.

The materials also combine performance and everyday comfort. Shiny, glossy down materials and washed denim offer a more casual fashion appeal and comfort, while lightweight fabrics like Gore-Tex provide enhanced performance functionality. Corduroy and fleece are infused with fashion elements through colors, patterns, and designs.

The Y2K-inspired cropped puffer jacket adds a fashionable touch with its wide ribbed design, while functional details such as outer pockets, ankle zippers, and piping are incorporated for added practicality.
