Familiar and comfortable silhouettes are maintained, but new moods are easily created through color. Thus, color layering for proportional effects, material matches or patterns using color blocking, and combinations of geometric patterns in various colors are widely used. Instead of the usual sporty color combinations, painting-like combinations of pink, other pastels, acid yellow, and bright emerald green are used to express a fresh and vibrant abstract feel.

Bold border stripes or large horizontal color blocking are highly versatile across various items. They add a youthful and sensory atmosphere to sporty and outdoor jumpers, and provide a distinctive and artistic vibe to polo shirts and tennis dresses. Using black lines, diagonal lines, or areas reminiscent of 3D cubes can create a more dynamic feel than horizontal layouts.

For everyday layered items, introducing new colors can create a color-blocking effect that contrasts with basic items like black or grey. Items such as tops with different sleeve lengths, shorts or skirts that layer well with long pants, and long tops are ideal for such effects. Alternatively, creating sharp color contrasts in commonly used design elements like raglan sleeves or yoke lines can be effective. The Adidas line, using contrasting braids, becomes even more interesting due to the textural contrast.

Apart from color blocking, color gradation is another great way to simply yet emotionally enhance sportswear. However, to avoid overwhelming combinations, it's best to mix only 2-3 colors. Gradating adjacent colors like yellow to green or blue to purple creates a more natural and wearable effect. If contrasting warm and cool colors like pink and sky blue (third cut, Balmain), it's advisable to use clear or pale tones to soften the clash.
